One Small Memory

Moments slither slowly by me offering up small shreds of memory,
like some ancient tapestry whose threads have gone to misery.
Age and beauty do not have to part.
They lie well preserved in an old one's heart.
Objects with their meanings lost offer cold company
compared to one small memory of a day in the sun at the ocean's shore,
a long time ago when there was more.
